The Leather Tailor – Leather Product Size Guide
At The Leather Tailor, we craft premium leather garments designed to fit impeccably and age beautifully. Because leather has minimal stretch when new (but softens and molds with wear), choosing the right size is essential for both comfort and longevity.
How to Measure Yourself
Use a soft measuring tape and measure over lightweight clothing (not bulky layers). Keep the tape snug but not tight.
| Body Part | How to Measure |
|---|---|
| Chest | Measure around the fullest part of your chest, under your arms, and across shoulder blades. |
| Waist | Measure around your natural waistline (usually just above the belly button). |
| Hips | Measure around the fullest part of your hips and seat. |
| Sleeve Length | From the center back of your neck, over your shoulder, down to your wrist. |
| Inseam | From your crotch down to the bottom of your ankle (for pants). |
| Back Length | From the base of your neck (where your collar sits) down to your waistline. |
💡 Tip: Have someone help you for the most accurate results—especially for back length and sleeve measurements.
Fit Guide for Leather Garments
Leather doesn’t stretch like knit fabrics, but it will conform to your body with wear. We recommend:
- Slim Fit: Snug but not tight. Ideal if you plan to wear it over light layers (e.g., t-shirt or thin sweater).
- Classic Fit: Slightly more room through the chest and waist. Best for layering or those who prefer comfort from day one.
- Oversized Fit: Intentionally roomy. Choose your usual size unless you prefer an exaggerated silhouette.
⚠️ Important: If you’re between sizes, size up—especially for jackets or coats you plan to layer.
